IC: Shorthand for "In Character". This is the default assumption for all in-game communications, and is not needed except when an OOC comment is also used in the same communication. 

OOC: Shorthand for "Out of Character". All posts to the message board are generally considered to come from some government official of your nation, and therefore will affect game play. Preface comments with OOC if you need to comment on something outside the game. 

DOW: Shorthand for "Declaration of War". Can be used as a noun or as a verb (to DOW).

NAP: Non Aggression Pact. See Diplomacy page.

MDT:  Mutual Defense Treaty. See Diplomacy page.
